Behind the Stone Walls: Why We Do What We Do

Many people ask us what led us, in 2018, to open the doors of Masia Can Pou. The answer is simple, even though bringing it to life every day is a wonderful journey: we wanted to create the place where we ourselves dreamed of getting lost.
Being hosts in the Vall del Llèmena is not just about handing over a key. For Eirene and for me, welcoming you means sharing a piece of our lives. These stone walls hold centuries of history, but it is your presence that fills them with energy and meaning.
Since we began this adventure, our obsession has been to care for the details that are not seen but are felt. It’s the soft light you find when you arrive, the fresh, clean scent of the rooms, or the time we take to chat with you about the valley’s hidden corners. We cannot understand hospitality in any way other than through closeness and honesty.

Running a masía like this requires effort, from the vegetable garden we share with Saúl to the breakfasts we prepare every morning. But when we see the relaxed look on your face on the second day of your stay, or when you tell us you’ve slept “better than you have in years,” all the work makes sense.

Can Pou is not just a rural accommodation; it is our life project. And our greatest satisfaction is that, during the days you spend here, you feel that this is also your refuge. A place where you are not a booking number, but part of our story.
And you—what do you value most when you arrive at a new place to rest? We love hearing your thoughts.
We are Donatello and Eirene, and since 2018 we have been caring for Masia Can Pou so it can be the refuge where we ourselves would love to get lost. de Masia Can Pou perquè sigui el refugi on nosaltres mateixos voldríem perdre’ns.
